There’s nothing more inviting than a glass of beer with friends and even family on spring. And what better way to have it than to join the Oktoberfest in Brisbane.

Oktoberfest is an annual tradition to celebrate the creation and love of beer. The event started in Germany until it was picked up by several countries all over the world. Once October strikes, the entire world makes a toast.

Unlike other countries, though, Brisbane tries to stick with the original tradition. Moreton Bay is easily transformed into one huge beer garden inspired by that of Munich. Tables will be set up just underneath the fig trees or under the bright lights of the moon and stars. If not, you can go into the Oktoberfest tent, which spans no less than 80 meters long.

There will be overflowing food—and, of course, several kegs of beer—for all those who want to join. Most of the dishes are still German inspired and are definitely known to be great partners to the chilly beverage. There will be plenty of activities too. You can hear live musicians performing country songs or German music as well as dancers who would move their way like the Germans would.

Competitions are also abundant. It’s normal to get challenged to yodeling or see women walking down ramps for the Ms. Oktoberfest. Men, on the other hand, can participate in the Bavarian Strongman.

Oktoberfest is not merely for the adults. The children are treated well too. Some dishes are kid friendly like pastries, cakes, pork hocks, pretzels, and sausages, which can go well with their favorite soda or other beverage. There will also be face painting and great children’s rides. Puppet theater may also be put up for their enjoyment. Popular celebrities such as those of Channel 10 can also drop by for a visit.

You surely don’t want to miss out Oktoberfest, so you should properly choose your Brisbane Oktoberfest accommodation. There are great resorts and hotels near Moreton Bay, one of which is Bridgewater Terraces. Apartments are all self containing, with complete laundry and kitchen facilities. The rooms are huge and can accommodate up to 7 people. They also have great views of the garden or the swimming pool. When you’re not in the festival, you can lounge in the well-manicured lawn or perhaps meet up with new friends in the barbecue area for grilled steaks and burgers.

Would you like to engage in a noteworthy activity while in Brisbane? Why don’t you register for the annual Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge fun run? It is an activity that gathers almost 50,000 people for one day.

The event, held every August, is not just your typical fun run. It is in support of various organizations, which will serve to be the receivers of the proceeds. There are also no very strict guidelines when it comes to competing. Anyone can do so, as long as they are fit to run. In fact, you may just find moms with their infants on hand or with pushed strollers and prams. You can also see kids competing in two categories.

Participants can compete in two ways: individual and teams. For the latter, a team can be composed of up to 5 individuals, competing in the same distance, which can be 5km or 10km. The individual, on the other hand, can compete in only one distance.

Families can look forward to several activities right after the event. There will be overflowing of food and beverages. Everyone can sit and watch live performances from well-known local and international bands. Market stalls selling a wide variety of goods, from the local produce to arts and crafts, will be put up.

It is spoken by many that the atmosphere in the Suncorp Bridge fun run is really fun. Because of this, it has attracted thousands of people, making it the second biggest fun run in the entire country.

It does not matter if you are an avid runner. There are running courses available for twelve weeks. Professionals will teach you how to combat fatigue or how to run properly to give you an edge over the others.

If you do not like to compete, you have the option to watch from the side lines. Just make sure you can take note of the road closures. Otherwise, you will never get to see the competition if you stay at the wrong place. You can also volunteer. The run usually invites hundreds of volunteers who stay in various areas, such as the water section or the recover area.

Do not miss out this run. Book Brisbane accommodation that brings you closer to the route or even the starting line. Bridgewater Terraces can do that for you. Moreover, the apartments offers very comfortable and relaxing room, something you definitely need after the run.

It may be referred to in different names — Royal Exhibition, the Royal Queensland Show, or the Exhibition — but one thing is for sure: Ekka is something you should not dare miss.

It may be referred to in different names — Royal Exhibition, the Royal Queensland Show, or the Exhibition — but one thing is for sure: ‘the Ekka’ is something you should not dare miss.

There are plenty of reasons why you should take part in the Ekka. For one, it’s known to be the last public event in Queensland before Christmas. Second, for several years, it has brought thousands of people from all over the world, a great time to meet new people and warm up with old friends. Most of all, it’s a very huge gathering that spells nothing but “fun” in all capital letters.

What can you expect from Brisbane’s Ekka? Plenty, and all of them for a very affordable ticket. The kids will surely love the presence of a myriad of farm animals, from sheep to cattle and ponies. They may even get a free lecture and a bag of freebies made up of chocolates. If you wish to have some time moving around, you can let them watch child-friendly performances such as Shrek or New MacDonald’s. These will get them glued to their seats. You can also leave them mesmerized in a Dinosaur Lecture and Dig. Who knows, they may take home some fossils.

Win or lose, it doesn’t matter. The different competitions guarantee a whole lot of learning and enjoyment. You have bush poetry, wood chopping or lumberjacking, fine arts, equestrian, and quilting. You can also stay in the sidelights and watch as the farmers compete in combining fleece breeds, apiculture, the Royal Queensland Dog Show, young judges, and pisiculture.

What’s a sideshow alley with no rides? Go back to your childhood days or bring a lot of smiles—and shrills—to your loved ones. Get dainty in the carousel or be wild aboard the roller-coaster.

Give in to your gastronomic needs with your varied choices of cuisines and menus. For your light fares, you can try coffee and sandwich in the Coffee Club. Go Italian in CJ’s Pasta or Confit Bistro. Sate House offers Asian delectable meals.

The Taste of Queensland Stage will also never run out of talks—and food. Start the morning with a discussion and a sip of tea and end with a good perspective and a full plate of Australian cuisine called Multicultural Queensland.

Don’t leave early; the night dazzles with a fireworks show.

Indeed, Brisbane’s Ekka is one event that makes your Brisbane stay truly memorable. To add to that, you can stay in Bridgewater Terraces, which offers you the comfortable and convenient Brisbane accommodation during your stay.

Want a well-deserved holiday in Brisbane? There is no better time than now to start planning. One of the most important considerations when planning a Brisbane holiday is booking your Brisbane accommodation, and choosing the right holiday home is key to a successful, no-less-than-perfect holiday. Here are some tips for choosing Brisbane accommodation that will allow you a positive, memorable experience:

1. Decide on a date then check for availability.
Determine whether the hotel of choice is available during your travel dates. This should narrow down your search to only those available during the said dates and duration.

2. Check the facilities, features and amenities provided by the hotel.
Find out what furnishings, fixtures, and amenities are available in the hotel. You have to make sure that your accommodation of choice meets all your needs. For instance, if you want a room that has a well-equipped kitchen, then you may find it best to go for a serviced apartment than a regular hotel room. Also, if you are travelling as a family or as a group, make sure that the available rooms can accommodate everyone.

3. Check photos.
Most hotels today offer photos of their rooms to give their guests an idea about what to expect during their stay. Look for photos of the bedroom, the living areas, the bathroom, the views and the kitchen, if available.

4. Consider the price.
The prices of Brisbane accommodation can vary. When you consider the price, know that the cheapest does not always mean best. As they say, you get what you pay for. What you should look for when choosing an accommodation is a price that offers the best quality. Higher-priced properties, hotels and locations usually reflect higher standards in terms of facilities, furnishings and features.

5. Read customer reviews.
Feedback and customer reviews are very important to consider. These reviews are real-life feedback regarding the services, the facilities, and possible problems encountered (if any) during their stay. More often than not, you can expect good things from Brisbane accommodations with good feedback from third party websites.

6. Book early.
Booking early can save you a lot of money, not only in airline tickets but in Brisbane accommodation as well. Quality accommodation offered at great prices are also sought after – when you book early, these hotels may still be available.

If you are looking for a high quality and affordable Brisbane accommodation, choose Bridgewater Terraces. Bridgewater offers well-appointed rooms and offers the ambiance and services that will make your Brisbane holiday a holiday to remember.

The atmosphere of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley is anything but quiet. In fact, it has one of the most colorful histories. Named after a ship called SS Fortitude, ‘the Valley’ as locals call it was a red light district, with brothels and bars serving pure adult entertainment. It was only later when business owners decided to shift their focus to include another variety of customers such as the hip teens and the young adults.

Today, Fortitude Valley is filled with numerous cafes, pubs, and take-away establishments. There are also a number of clubs that play techno and hip-hop music such as the Beat Mega Club and Troubadour. Ann Street is a popular place, especially for those who want to go shopping. There you will find countless boutiques offering a wide range of apparel, from high-end brands to clothes with a very edgy design, usually made by local designers.

Chinatown at Fortitude Valley remains to be a huge hit. It’s a must-see place if you want to get the best bargains from various goods including kitchenware and dresses. It’s also the home of authentic Chinese restaurants, those serving original green tea and dishes cooked in woks. The entrance of the mall is also hard to miss. It’s a traditional Chinese gate with several kilograms’ heavy guard lions made of stone.

Brunswick Street is ideal for people who are looking for alternatives in Fortitude Valley. The restaurants are al fresco and give you an easy view of the market stalls. Your walk here may also lead you to the New Farm and Ann Street. It’s also very near the centuries-old Empire Hotel.

Fortitude Valley also has a museum called Queensland Military Memorial Museum, which has collections dating back to the early 1800s.

It also never runs out of festivals and local events. The most famous will be the Valley Fiesta, which normally lasts for three days. Around this time, popular musicians will offer free music, and market stalls will be selling their goods at marked-down prices. Since 2004, Fortitude Valley also has its yearly Valley Jazz Festival. The Commercial Swimming Club and Fortitude Valley Diehards are meant for its swimming and football teams.

Get yourself a little much closer to Fortitude Valley. When you’re in Brisbane, stay at Bridgewater Terraces. Its spacious Brisbane accommodation is self-service, so all you need are within reach. You can also ask for assistance with the help desk when you want to plan out a day or two at Fortitude Valley.

What’s the best way to get the most out of Brisbane? It actually depends on what you really like. There are different Brisbane tours you can check out and join to make sure you can cover everything that you wish to see in the city.

There are Brisbane adventure tours that will take you to several islands such as Moreton and Fraser. Both have excellent places where you can drive your 4-wheeler. You can also bask in the sun and ride the surfboards. The surfing breaks are just perfect, almost comparable to those of Surfers Paradise. The waters are also inviting for several activities such as kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, snorkeling, and diving. You can even take the trips one notch higher by hiring a yacht that will take you to the world-recognized unbelievably beautiful Great Barrier Reef.

Develop a more romantic mood during your honeymoon or a leisurely trip with your beloved on board any of the boats or yachts. Brisbane dinner cruises are fairly common, especially with the magnificent peaceful Brisbane river. A cruise on the water gives you a different take of the city, such as a closer glimpse on the Goodwill Bridge, Brisbane Wheel, and the parklands of Southbank. Moreover, you can watch the skyscrapers that make up majority of the business and shopping district.

You can take the cruise at daytime and nighttime. Along with the travel is a catered meal with a wide variety of sumptuous dishes.

How about looking at Brisbane from up above? You can go to the Hinterland and ride the hot air balloon, or you can drop yourself to several thousand feet below through sky diving. Couples usually ride helicopters that will take them to the mountains for a fancy meal.

Despite the continued progress, several portions of Brisbane have remained to be nature, and they are also excellent places to explore. You can participate in eco-trips that will take you to deeper parts of the forests or wildlife sanctuaries. Canopy tours add adrenaline rush to your list of emotions.

Art lovers can opt for the arts and culture tour, which includes trips to museums, art galleries, parks, and tickets to some performances.

If you’re not staying for a very long time here, you can ask for highlights tour where only the most frequently visited places are covered.

After your Brisbane tour, retire on your comfortable Brisbane accommodation at Bridgewater Terraces. This self-contained Brisbane accommodation choice is very near to several spots. The helpful front desk can also offer suggestions on what tour will be ideal.

You cannot end your trip to Brisbane without spending a night out with newfound friends or best buddies.

You cannot end your trip to Brisbane without spending a night out with newfound friends or best buddies. You will never be disappointed, though. Majority of the pubs, bars, and clubs are open every day and for very long hours.

The Fortitude Valley, about 30 minutes away from Brisbane CBD, is a popular place for those who are looking for great bars and pubs. You can begin your night hopping at Barsoma Restaurant, which is famous for its tapas and pizzas. A typical pizza will cost you $5. You can then pair it with your choice wine or a pint of beer. It’s an awarded restaurant, which received the Best New Restaurant in 2004.

When you only need cocktails, you simply have to go to the Bowery, inspired by the New York gin street.

The Zenbar and Restaurant sits in an old commercial office space. However, there’s nothing really formal about Zen, except for the fact that it’s frequented even by the business executives working in skyscrapers. It has a huge collection of beers, some of which have to be imported from other countries. You can also enjoy your light fares with a glass of martini.

When you want a smorgasbord restaurant, the best place to go to is the Coro. It has the Lure Restaurant and Lounge, well recognized as a chilling hotspot for the locals. Within the same vicinity is the wine store, where you can sample its selections, and the Gaming Lounge.

One of the oldest hangout places in Brisbane is the Story Bridge Hotel, which was built during the late 1880s. It’s a renovated hotel, with layouts depicting its original form. The back of it, which used to be a bomb shelter in World War II, is now the Annexe. It’s a club that provides live entertainment of varying kinds to its visitors. The hotel also has a popular grilling restaurant called the Outback Bar and Grill.

After a trip to the theater or to the shopping mall, drop by the Cru Bar and Cellar. It’s a quaint cellar that can occupy 80 people at most. Besides sipping wine, you can order fine food.

Many Brisbane accommodation options are also located close to these night spots. One of these is the famous Bridgewater Terraces, where apartments give you an excellent view of the swimming pool or the garden. It also has barbecue area where you can set up an impromptu or informal party with friends and family.
