The best shopping destinations in Brisbane

Brisbane is well-known all over the world for being a fantastic holiday destination. But, few people are aware of the fact that Brisbane is also a great shopping destination. In fact, many of our guests here at Bridgewater Terraces choose to indulge in shopping in Brisbane during their stay.

Looking up the best shopping in Brisbane on TripAdvisor will give you an idea of where to shop in Brisbane. But, it doesn’t really give you a local’s perspective on where to shop in Brisbane. For this you need the help of a local, such as myself.

So, continue reading this post as I list some of the best places to shop in Brisbane. Whether you’re a holidaymaker or a local, you must drop by these shopping destinations to have a great time.

1. Queen Street Mall | Brisbane CBD

Queen Street Mall, Brisbane, QLD

Queen Street Mall, Brisbane, QLD

Queen Street Mall is undoubtedly the best destination for shopping in Brisbane. This iconic shopping mall is Queensland’s premier fashion and retail shopping destination. It’s always bustling with activity, thanks to its bevy of retail and shopping stores.

One of the biggest malls in Queensland, Queen Street Mall stretches over 500m in length and includes 5 shopping centres, 4 shopping arcades and plenty of boutique fashion stores. From high-end boutiques to small retail stores there something for everyone at Queen Street Mall. Make sure to visit this fantastic shopping destination on your holiday and shop till you drop!

2. James Street | Fortitude Valley

Over the past few years, James Street has earned the reputation of being the most stylish shopping strip in Brisbane. Apart from a wide range of retails stores, it is also a fine culinary hub. James Street offers everything ranging from designer fashion and accessories, homewares, art galleries, restaurants and cafes.

Fortitude Valley is known for its edgy urban fashion and you can find it all along James Street. There are over 130 boutique stores on this street catering to everyone – ladies, gents and kids included! I must warn you though – keep an eye on your credit card. With such fantastic stores, restaurants and cafes, you’ll be tempted to overspend!

3. Latrobe Terrace | Paddington

Latrobe Terrace is my absolute favourite shopping destination in Brisbane. This shopping haven has been somewhat of a local secret, given that Paddington is just outside the city. Latrobe Terrace is a long shopping strip on the way to Mt. Coot-Tha and it includes several stores and cafes.

You can expect to find everything ranging from homewares and furniture, fashion and accessories, art and delicious food here. In fact, Latrobe Terrace is located amidst such picturesque settings that you don’t even need to be shopping to enjoy the place! It’s the perfect place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon in Brisbane.

4. Brisbane Arcade | Brisbane CBD

Located in Brisbane CBD, Brisbane Arcade is a shopping destination which is a hit with locals and tourists alike. The arcade is designed in renaissance style and reflects an old-school charm. Here, you’ll find plenty of speciality stores offering homewares, art, fashion and accessories.

If you’re fond of unique items, then a visit to Brisbane Arcade is a must. From vintage handmade products to designer boutique stores, Brisbane Arcade has something in store for everyone. You’re sure to have a great time walking through this arcade and discovering all that it has to offer.

Brisbane may be well-known as a holiday destination, but few are aware that it is also a great shopping destination. Some of the best destinations to go shopping in Brisbane are the Queen Street Mall, James Street, Latrobe Terrace and Brisbane Arcade.
