It’s not uncommon to know at least one person who’s planning a Brisbane holiday. Our city is a fantastic tourist destination which presents a range of sights and sounds not to be found elsewhere. In fact, there’s just so much to see and do in Brisbane that a small holiday usually doesn’t cut it. For this reason, many Australians choose Brisbane as their holiday destination time and time again.
But if you’ve never been to Brisbane before, then it’s a good idea to do a little research before you travel. One of the biggest considerations of course will be what to pack for your holiday.
Today, I will offer you a beginner’s guide to packing for your upcoming Brisbane holiday. This guide can be used for any holiday, but more specifically for Brisbane.
Packing for the weather
When you’re packing for your Brisbane holiday, make sure to pack for the weather. Brisbane experiences a sub-tropical climate and it is generally warm and sunny throughout the year. However, there can always be unexpected downpours, so packing an umbrella is a wise idea.
The humidity in Brisbane can get a little extreme as well. So, make sure to pack some handy tissues/wipes. Ladies, you’ll also need to pack hairbands or bandanas to protect your hair from the humidity.
Also, don’t forget to pack your sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Brisbane experiences high UV radiation, so it’s important to make sure you pack some skin protection.
When you’re packing clothes for a Brisbane holiday, anything goes really. Brisbane is a friendly, energetic and cosmopolitan city and no type of clothing is frowned upon. So, you can really pack anything that you feel comfortable in. In terms of colour, everything is accepted but the locals tend to stick to neutral colours. So, throw in some blacks and whites when you pack for your holiday.
Also, you must always pack clothes keeping Brisbane’s weather in mind. Given the subtropical and humid climate of Brisbane, you should always include natural fabrics in your packing. Natural fabrics such as cotton and linen will keep you comfortable during hot summer days in Brisbane.
Winter in Brisbane isn’t too cold, but it does tend to be fresh in the mornings and evenings. If you’re planning a holiday during winter, pack a sweater, light jacket or long-sleeved shirt. Otherwise, singlets, t-shirts and shorts are perfect.
Packing for activities
Brisbane offers so much to see and do that you won’t want to visit only the major tourist spots. You’re more likely to explore the cosmopolitan culture of our city.
Clubbing is huge in Brisbane and the locals really put in an effort to look good when they go out. So, if you’re planning on hitting a nightclub or bar on your holiday, throw some fancy clothes in your suitcase.
You may also like to visit one of the nearby beaches, so don’t forget to pack your swimwear, beachwear and sandals.
Brisbane also offer plenty of adventure activities, walking tracks and trails. As such, it’s a good idea to pack some sportswear and proper walking shoes for your holiday.
There are also many camping areas that are favoured by tourists. If you’re planning to spend a few days on Stradbroke Island or Morton Bay, it’s a good idea to pack insect repellents. Australia is notorious for outdoor pests and insects and you’ll do yourself a huge favour by packing repellents.
When it comes to packing for a Brisbane holiday, you should make certain considerations. Always make sure to pack for Brisbane’s subtropical climate, pack clothes depending on the season you’re travelling in and pack for the activities that you’ll indulge in on your holiday.
