The top 3 travel trends of 2017…so far

Over the years, I’ve noticed a shift in how people take to travelling. In fact, most of the old rules of travel do not apply at all today. Millennials have defined some exciting new travel trends in 2017 and this is what we’ll look at in today’s post.

Do yourself a favour and follow these trends for your upcoming Brisbane holiday.

1. Bleisure Boom

Thanks to the rise of the internet, it is now possible to work from anywhere. This has led to a growing travel trend – the boom of ‘bleisure’. Bleisure is nothing bur business combined with leisure. In 2017, it is expected that almost 46% of all travellers will combine business with leisure. As a matter of fact, surveys have revealed that almost 30% of people will accept a lower paying job if they can work from home or anywhere but an office.

It’s little wonder why we’ve seen an increase in the number of business guests here at Bridgewater Terraces. Thanks to our Wi-Fi option, our guests are able to work out of our holiday apartments. Possibly, you could consider doing the same?

2. Becoming Your Own Travel Agent

Again, the rise of technology has depleted the need for travel agents. Rarely will you see a traveller in 2017, who isn’t well equipped to handle their travel details independently. Websites like TripAdvisor and Airbnb have completely changed the way we travel. Even Google Trips and Facebook are increasingly being used for travel planning.

At Bridgewater Terraces, we also like to empower independent travellers. That’s why you can book an apartment with us in just a few clicks from our bookings page. And trust me – with us, what you see is what you get.

3. Simple Pleasures

Another rising travel trend that I’ve seen this year is that travellers are motivated more by personal aspirations than by material possessions. Travellers are prioritising investing in experiences over buying souvenirs or possessions.

Likewise, travellers are also moving away from choosing to stay in hotels and opting for affordable accommodation, such as ours at Bridgewater Terraces. Fancy, high end accommodation seems to be a thing of the past, as only a fraction of travellers think of it as essential.

As you can see for yourself, the times are changing! And, there’s no better time for you to plan a holiday than right now. So, if you’re ready to unplug from work and book this year’s holiday, then Brisbane is just the place for you to visit.

You can book a holiday apartment outside the hustle and bustle of the city at the tranquil grounds of Bridgewater Terraces. We’re located in Kangaroo Point, just outside Brisbane CBD and yet we provide a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. You won’t find any fancy embellishments at our apartments, but all essential facilities and amenities will be provided to you.
